I purchased the green and black version of this a couple weeks back, and I was so impressed by it that I just went ahead and ordered the blue version as well. The blue one will make an excellent gift or maybe I’ll decide to keep it ha.
Originally, I got this green one and 2 other models offered by this new brand I had never heard of before. What drew me in was the 14c28n steel at a hardness rating of 60-62 for such an affordable price. The already affordable price combined with the promotional coupon makes this an absolutely insane value. While the other 2 models were nice, I liked this one by far the most. I do think they were all worth what I paid, but this one really impressed me a lot.
The knife looks great but more importantly, it functions great. The hardness range is higher than any other Chinese brand 14c I’ve come across, and I think 61-62rc 14c28n makes a great blade steel for a hard use knife. The steel really comes to life at that hardness range. Speaking of hard use, this thing has some seriously sturdy liners and solid construction…I feel confident in using this folder hard. That comes at a bit of expense to the weight. It’s not an ultra lightweight option, but it’s only 4oz so easily manageable and what you get with little extra weight vs an ultralight option is a ton of added strength with the thick ish steel liners. G10 is no slouch either strength wise, plus the texturing on this g10 is great. Plenty of grip while it doesn’t feel like it will rip up my jeans.
I took this one to the beach with me over the last 4 days, and I haven’t noticed any corrosion even after getting salt water on it multiple times. I did rinse and air dry once I got back to the condo but still that’s very low maintenance. I even forgot to bring oil so just relied on rinsing and it did great. Haven’t had to touch up the edge yet, either, so I’m inclined to believe the stated rc numbers.
The button lock is very smooth and super fidget friendly, which I do like in a folder. The thumb studs work pretty good as well but I mainly use the button lock and wrist flick it open and closed cause it’s just so smooth. Also, I haven’t noticed what one reviewer claimed was an issue with the button being hard to press at certain angles. It works great for me. The grind is nice and thin behind the edge, so it makes a great slicer. 14c28n has more than enough toughness to support this thin edge so it’s a great combo. Seriously, this steel is tough for a stainless and I feel confident in this knifes ability to withstand some abuse.
One more thing to mention is how nicely this brand packages their knives…a very thoughtful presentation that makes for a great gift that the receiver will surely think you spent more money on than you did. The knife itself looks great too imo and feels great in hand. I think this will be fintiso’s flagship knife that will launch them onto the scene.
